Head of Payments

Responsible for the management of the payments function – responsible for ensuring the complete end-to-end processing of the firms transactions and payments. Responsible for ensuring that the appropriate control framework exists to ensure the accuracy of this processing as well as the recording/reporting of any errors.

What you will do

Key Responsibilities

  • Daily reconciliation of bank accounts to CRM systems across business
  • Accounting for bank charges across currency accounts; Buying back bank charges for trades as needed
  • Uploading payments via banking providers
  • Formatting and uploading bulk payment files
  • Formatting and sending manual payment files
  • Payment authorisation across company accounts
  • Reviewing and approving of payments
  • Verifying new accounts details verbally with clients and approving on CRM systems
  • Liaise with banks and counter parties on any payment queries or compliance questions
  • Managing the safeguarding day to day procedure of client assets

Required Skills:

  • Proven strong understanding of regulatory rules and requirements affecting the Firm’s business and our products with a strong international outlook. Be prepared to expand your knowledge on the job of international and domestic regulation.
  • Experience of the regulatory requirements of Electronic Money Regulations, FCA/PRA Handbooks and other relevant regulatory institutions or instruments.
  • A good working knowledge of POCA, JMLSG, HMRC, Money Laundering Directive (most recent updates) and the key FCA principles for the financial services sector.
  • Working knowledge of General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and Payment Services Directive (PSD2)
  • Able to gain professional respect from key stakeholders quickly due to obvious technical knowledge, intelligence, strong communication/relationship /influencing skills and commercial mind-set.
  • Be able to think and operate strategically and commercially but at the same time enjoy dealing with day-to-day compliance issues as they arise.
  • Be prepared to own and take responsibility for your decisions.
  • Able to build relationships and present information to the Partnership, regulators and other key third parties concisely and confidently.
  • Commercial mind-set. Have a holistic understanding of global and regional compliance initiatives and be on top of regulatory developments – think in terms of the business not just in terms of the function.
